Layouts of Pompeian Homes
Wealthy Romans would be able to afford town houses or villas. Most of them had the same designs. The front door would lead to a hall with a pool in the middle and an open roof. A big garden and rooms had high, elegant ceilings, wide doors and only a few windows. In most Roman houses, each side of the atrium would have 2-3 rooms. In the dining room, there are normally 3 benches around the table. The gardens were often decorated with a lot of flowers and a few fountains.
